JOBI POTTERY

In the spring of 2016 Robert began his association with Jobi Pottery. Founded in 1953 by Joe and Bill, the Truro pottery has a long tradition of hand painted, slip cast pottery.  The current owner Susan Kurtzman continues on the tradition using original molds and the designs she was taught by Joe when he was in his late 70's.

Robert first learned how to decorate the green ware with colored slip. Learning that the color he painted, the color it dried and the color it fired, were very different things. It was not long before he started to bring his attention to detail to one of a kind pieces of Art Pottery. One of his first pieces, a large vase of the Highland Lighthouse, was donated to the Historical Society for their fund raiser. Strong bidding and interest helped it to be one of the top dollar pieces in the auction.

In 2017 Robert continued to decorate Jobi Pottery production pieces in the Lighthouse design. In addition he created one of a kind pieces with sceanes of the lower Cape. Also he started to do signed, limited edition revivals of early rare designs. One of the few times Jobi Pottery would be artist signed, dated and have the Jobi signature.

In the years following Robert and Susan have continued to work together to create wonderful pieces of Art.
